Weircliffe
Weircliffe specialises in magnetic media data destruction, the process that is called correctly degaussing, yet also known as bulk wiping, erasing, and even zapping.
Weircliffe's predecessors, 'Amos of Exeter Ltd', pioneered in the 1960s the production of bulk magnetic tape erasers. The first patents being granted in 1964, they named the enterprise 'Weircliffe' after the site where it was established on the outskirts of the historic city of Exeter, 46 miles from Plymouth in Devon, England. |

By the late 1980s, the need for higher magnetic power for the then 'new' metal tape and the concerns raised with electomagnetic fields resulted in new designs. Weircliffe responded successfully to the challenge of degaussing this new media like digital cassettes, mirror duplication masters, high capacity computer tape streamers and changing formats in the instrumentation field.
With the requirement for Hard Drive data destruction, Weircliffe confirmed its abilities using atomic tunneling magnetic force microscopy. Respect for contemporary and evolving standards of personal safety, environmental protection and performance are design criteria at Weircliffe. To ensure that its goals are correct, Weircliffe's products are third party tested by a UKAS approved facility against Internationally recognised standards for Electrical Safety (EN60950). Full CE compliance for areas with such requirements is assured.
